NAHANT – It might be every nonprofit organization?s dream that funds could just fall from the sky, and on Saturday Kelley Greens will come close to fulfilling that wish with its annual Golf Ball Drop.Hundreds of balls will be thrown from a helicopter over the ninth fairway at the golf course Saturday at 6 p.m. to raise money for three local charities – the New England Center for Homeless Veterans, Swampscott High School?s Class of 2014 and Nahant organization 01908.Participants get a chance to win cash prizes when they purchase a ball for $10 and get their name written on the ball. When the balls land, the four closest and the one furthest away from a designated hole will win. According to Kelley Greens owner Michael O?Callaghan, the more balls that are purchased, the bigger the pot for prizes.O?Callaghan said 300 to 400 people showed for last year?s event, and is expecting even more this year. He advised that for anyone who wishes to park to get there early, and encourages others to walk or ride their bikes.
