The Classical boys soccer team was able to blank a talented Beverly team 3-0 at Beverly Thursday night.Classical (2-2) broke the 0-0 stalemate 20 minutes into the first half, when Yabesi Musema scored his first of two goals. The Rams were able to scrape up one more goal before the end of the first half, thanks to Musema, to take a 2-0 lead. Keregya Nasibu capped off the Classical scoring early in the second half.?Beverly is always a tough team,” Classical coach Rob Upton said. “We were able to work the ball good and get the ball to open spots for our strikers to attack.”Classical is at Revere Tuesday.Northeast 2, Tech 1At Northeast, the Tigers (1-3) struck first at the 10-minute mark in the first half. Emerson Imul scored the first goal of the game and put Tech up 1-0. The Tigers held on to that lead until late in the second half. Peabody was able to shut out its second straight opponent, with Rob Smith in net (11 saves). Christian Morales also helped anchor the Tanner defense.Mhd. 1, Swampscott 1At Marblehead, the Magicians (1-0-1) took a 1-0 lead in the first half when Kaya Ulcay took a through pass up the middle, shot it and then put in his own rebound. The Big Blue tied the game two minutes into the second half when Neil Lahrizi took a free kick and it went off a Marblehead player into the net. Will Green had 10 saves for Swampscott. Peirce Law took care of business in the Marblehead net.?It was a great game,” Marblehead coach Scott Laramie said. “Swampscott?s young but aggressive. They?re fast.”Laramie was very happy with the play of his midfielders and the team overall. Deema Hijleh, Tayla O?Leary and Hannah Van DeStadt supplied the first three goals and Sydney Hanford, Van DeStadt, O?Leary and Alix Bryant accounted for the next four. The Salem (2-1-0, 1-0-0 Northeastern Conference) defense has been stifling this season, allowing only four shots over the last 2 1/2 games.English?s Katherine Lozano did make a dent in the Salem lead on a beauty of a goal in the second half.
