NAHANT – The Nahant Preservation Trust needs you to run, not walk, to your computer to register for the annual “Sea to Shining Sea” race. The five-mile race set for Sunday raises funds for the Nahant Life Saving Station?s restoration and upkeep, and a slow sign-up rate has Preservation Trust board member Roz Puleo concerned. With work to be done on the station?s garage and grounds and only small grants to sustain the property, the trust is counting on raising about $3,000. “It?s not a lot of money to keep us going, but every little bit helps,” said Puleo. The event starts across the street from the station at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. Both runners and walkers are welcome. Registration costs $25 a head for those who register before Sept. 19 and $30 on race day. The first 125 entrants receive a long-sleeve T-shirt. Race numbers can be picked up at the race that morning. Trophies are awarded to the male and female overall winners, with medals awarded to the top finisher in each of the seven age categories. To register go to active.com and send a check payable to Nahant Preservation Trust, care of Roz Puleo, 21 Greystone Road, Nahant, MA 01908.
