Quarterback Mike Miller was all over the field, scoring three touchdowns and passing for a fourth.The Bulldogs also won last week, 29-15, over Peabody, in a game that demonstrated perhaps English?s modus operandi for the upcoming season: the big play.Two of English?s four touchdowns went for over 25 yards through the air … both from quarterback Jordan (Javier) Lark to receiver Chris Lessard.Wakefield has just completed a makeover of its field, which means this is the third straight week a team from Lynn will help usher in a new era at someone else?s school. Genrri Rosario and Shakir White scored both touchdowns for the 0-1 Witches.Swampscott at WinthropAt Miller Field (7), the Big Blue hope that the defensive struggles that led to a 64-39 defeat to St. Mary?s last Thursday have been resolved. Offensively, the big gun for the Big Blue was Brendan McDonald, who threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another.The Vikings got off to a good start, defeating Saugus, 20-6, behind quarterback Dylan Driscoll?s 75 rushing yards, two touchdowns, seven tackles and one interception.North Shore at FenwickAt Donaldson Field, lost in last week?s 64-point explosion by St. Mary?s was the Crusaders? 54-point outburst against Hamilton-Wenham. Lynn?s Rufus Rushins piled up 176 yards on the ground and scored four touchdowns. The Crusaders ran for 401 yards all told.The Bulldogs, 1-1, lost last week to Blue Hills, 16-7. Dan Bailey scored the only touchdown.Somerville at PeabodyAt Lee Field (7), the Tanners have to be encouraged even though they lost, 29-15, to English last week. They got 148 yards on the ground by sophomore Doug Santos, who had to perform the lion?s share of the duties after senior captain Cody Wlasuk went down with an injury. Santos also scored both Peabody touchdowns.The Highlanders lost their opener to Arlington, 28-7. Quarterback Phoenix Huertas hit Jonathan Santana with a 34-yard scoring pass.Malden at RevereAt DellaRusso Stadium, the Patriots look to rebound after last week?s road loss to Medford, 35-22. Tommy Portrait ran for two scores, and Revere scored 16 fourth-quarter points, but it was too little, too late.The Golden Tornados lost a tough 24-20 decision to Methuen last week. They?d just gone up 20-18 with four minutes to go when Methuen took back the ensuing kick 78 yards to retake the lead.St. John?s at Central Cath.At Central (7), the Raiders get to try to shut down Johnathan Thomas this week. The senior back, who has already committed to Maryland, ran for 263 yards for the 1-1 Eagles and scored three touchdowns in last week?s 36-22 win over Brockton.Central looks to have an offensive machine this season, having put up 39 and 40 points in winning its first two games.In other games, Beverly looks to get into the win column when it faces 0-1 North Andover on “Light Up Hurd Stadium” night. The Panthers have lost games to Haverhill and Danvers. Also, Gloucester (2-0) travels to 0-1 Masconomet, losers last week to Melrose.
