Boys Soccer: English, Tech both win via shutout

The English boys soccer team scored two early goals in the first half against Beverly and turned the quick start into a 2-0 win Thursday at Manning Field.Brian Rovira scored at the 15-minute mark (assisted by brother Daniel Rovira), and again at the 24-minute mark (Carlos Valenzuela assist).The Bulldogs (2-2-1) play Classical Monday.Tech 1, Whittier 0At Whittier, the game was scoreless for the first 60 minutes until Tech?s Aaron Rodriguez cashed in on a penalty kick for the game-winner. Tech is 3-3.Peabody 4, Classical 2At Peabody, the Tanners (3-0-1) held a 2-1 lead at the half. Ben Manoogian had two goals, Jake Silva had one and C.J. Alimonti had a goal and two assists. Rob Smith and Kevin LeBel split in net. Christian Morales was a rock on defense and Connor Wolfe shored up the midfield.The Rams (2-4) had goals from Yabesi Musema and Keregya Nasibu with Jefferson Lorimer turning in a strong game in the midfield.Saugus 2, Ham-Wenham 2At Hamilton-Wenham, the Sachems? (1-3-1) Jorge Chiquillo scored in the first half, but the Generals came back with two to take the lead. Saugus? Guilherme Barbosa scored off a corner kick by Aleksa Samardzic 10 minutes into the second half to salvage the tie. Owen Andruchow had a strong game in net.Fenwick 6, Matignon 0At Fenwick, the Crusaders (3-4-1) led 4-0 at the half. Iftimi Arapi had two goals and Rishad DaSilva, Alex Baker, Patrick Walsh and Troy Bellville had the rest.Ipswich 3, Lynnfield 0At Ipswich, Lynnfield (1-3-1) had strong showings on defense from Joe Ross and Matt Seeling.Danvers 3, Swampscott 1At Swampscott, sophomore Erick Eaton scored his first varsity goal, but Danvers (3-0-1, 2-0 NEC) came back with three unanswered goals (Ciao Silva, Jackson McPherson, Nikolay Sakhin) in the second half. The Big Blue (1-1-1) had standout play on defense from senior Neil Lahrizi. Cam Bornstein (12 saves) got the win for Danvers.
