Fenwick only allowed two first downs for the entire game and allowed Tech a total of 105 yards of total offense. Forty-six of those yards came on one carry from Tech’s starting running back. The Crusaders also blocked two punts, with one of those resulting in a touchdown.”Last week we gave up 24 points and it was good to see the defensive unit improve as a whole,” Fenwick coach Dave Woods said. “The defense was really something to watch tonight. The boys had a great game plan going in and executed it to perfection.”The Crusaders pounded the Tech defense with their run game. Fenwick totaled 250 yards of rushing offense to go along with 50 yards through the air.”The offense had another strong showing,” coach Woods said. “We still have things to work on, but it’s nice to see them progress as a unit.”The Crusaders first touchdown came early in the first quarter from the defensive side. Fenwick’s Aidan Moulton blocked a punt and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown (6-0 Fenwick). The Crusaders added their second touchdown a few minutes later when quarterback Nick Bona broke a 56-yard run for a touchdown. Fenwick led 13-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Crusaders wasted no time in the second quarter to jump out to a 20-0 lead, when running back Rufus Rushins took a one-yard carry in for a score. Fenwick led 20-0 at the end of the first half and never looked back.Leading the way for Fenwick was the duo of Bona and Rushins. Bona recorded 60 yards on the ground and two touchdowns, while Rushins ran for 85 yards and two touchdowns. Robert Carrillo added 86 yards on the ground and Eric Razney chipped in with a 45-yard catch as well. Fenwick (2-0) will start league play next Friday on the road against Arlington Catholic.”Arlington Catholic is going to be a stiff test for us,” coach Woods said. “I am excited to get league play underway and see how the boy’s matchup with a quality team like Arlington Catholic.”
