The English girls soccer team was in a battle on the road against Revere Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldogs scored the game-winner with a minute left to defeat Revere, 1-0.It was a 0-0 tie when English (4-5) created one of its only good scoring opportunities late in the second half. Bulldog Veronica Uk received a long pass on the left side of the field and went around her defender. Uk continued up the left side and kicked a far corner shot that found its way in with one minute remaining on the clock.?It was really a tale of two halves,” English coach Ed McNeil said. “We dominated the first half with nothing to show for it and Revere really dominated the second half. It was great, the girls kept digging in and when an opportunity presented itself they were able to make good on it.”Sophomore Kaitlyn Nadeau recorded her fourth shutout of the season for English. Rachael Roy and Karissa Burton helped anchor the Bulldog defense.Saugus 3, Rockport 1At Saugus, the game was a scoreless tie until 10 minutes into the second half when Rockport took a 1-0 lead. Sachem Mikayla Perella took the game into her own hands and scored all three goals for Saugus. Perella tied the game five minutes after Saugus fell behind, and scored the game-winner 10 minutes later. Saugus had strong performances from Gillian Lyons (center-mid), Ashley Corton (stopper) and Gianna Zirpolo (outside defender). Saugus is now 1-5-1.St. Mary?s 7, Matignon 1At Matignon, St. Mary?s sprinted to a 4-1 lead at the half and never looked back. The Spartan duo of Jennie Mucciarone (3 goals, 2 assists) and Michaela St. Cyr (2 goals, assist) set the tone. Mucciarone and St. Cyr combined for five goals and three assists. Sophia Holmes and Taylor Capozzi chipped in with a goal each for St. Mary?s. The Spartans (5-1-1) play Salem Friday night.Fenwick 2, Williams 0At Fenwick, the Crusaders (4-2-1) got a goal in each half while goaltender Merry Harrington made seven saves. Annette Ruggiero (assisted by Abbey Rocker) opened the scoring midway through the first half, before Rocker scored with five minutes left, assisted by Danielle DelTorto.Swampscott 1, Winthrop 1At Winthrop, the Big Blue settled for a draw after Jaymie Caponigro?s goal in the 31st minute of the second half knotted the score. Leah Dawley was credited with an assist. Swampscott, now 3-2-2, plays next on Friday at English.Peabody 0, Beverly 0At Peabody, the Tanners (4-1-1) were able to slow down the high-powered Panthers offense.The defensive trio of Carolina Colbert, Katrina Silva and Ali Demeo led the way for Peabody. Goalie Caitlin Lodi recorded a shutout for the Tanners.Danvers 4, Marblehead 2At Danvers, the host Falcons got two goals apiece from Kylie Plaza and Shannon Pohle. The win improves Danvers to 4-2-0, 4-0-0 in conference play.Lynnfield 3, Triton 0At Triton, in action from Tuesday, the Pioneers took a 2-0 lead at the half. Lexi Yannone, Jackie Whelan and Emily Scollard all scored a goal each for Lynnfield (7-0).
