LYNN – A judge ordered $50,000 cash bail for a city man who allegedly dropped what he said was a bomb outside the home of a witness to an August incident in which the man was shot. The bomb, however, turned out to be a bag of dog poop.”(The witness) stated to (the defendant) ?hey, you dropped your bag’ and he stated ?I know, it’s a bomb,’ and then drove off,” Lynn Police Officer Christopher Hagerty said in a report. “The bag was found to be a plastic shopping bag that contained dog feces.”Andrew O’Brien, 25, of 38 Hanover St. #18, was arrested on a warrant for witness intimidation on Tuesday. He was arraigned on the charge Wednesday in Lynn District Court.Police responded to a Chestnut Street address on Sept. 16 where a woman – whom police identified as the witness in an Aug. 10 shooting on Hanover Street where O’Brien was an “uncooperative victim” – told officers O’Brien had been driving past her home every day for nearly a week. The woman told police O’Brien would “stop and then just stare up at her,” according to the report. But the woman’s niece said O’Brien came by the house while the witness to the shooting was gone on Sept. 13.”(The defendant) stopped in front of the house and from the open driver’s side window yelled, ?where’s your fat (expletive) aunt?'” Hagerty said. “O’Brien now stated ?You tell her that I am gonna hash it out with her and (another person, not identified in the report) when (I) see them again.'”The niece told police “hash it out” means “to yell at someone in an angry manner,” according to Hagerty.O’Brien then allegedly dropped the bag of what turned out to be dog poop.Assistant District Attorney Doug Sheehan requested O’Brien be held on $50,000 cash bail, according to court documents.Judge Allen Swan accepted the recommendation and set the requested bail, according to court documents. O’Brien is scheduled to return to court Oct. 22.
