October 2, 2013 by Mario DiNitto

Abitalib Girdia scored with seven minutes left in the first half to give Classical the only goal it would need in a 1-0 win over Swampscott Tuesday at Manning Field.?It was a very close game,” Classical coach Rob Upton said. “In the second half they came with a lot of pressure.”Stopper/sweeper Andreas Dominovic was up for the test. Battling through an injury, he anchored a defense that helped Strati Saranteas notch the shutout. Yabesi Musema had the assist on Girdia?s goal. The Rams are 4-5-1.English 6, Winthrop 1At Winthrop, the Bulldogs (5-3-1) were clicking offensively with Brian Rovira scoring three goals and assisting on two others. Peabody took an early lead on a Ben Manoogian goal from Christian Morales. The Magicians (2-1-4) tied the score before halftime when Ulcay fed Jacob Wikar. In the second half, Kenny Sawyer scored on a pass from Connor Wolff; however, the one goal lead was not enough to allow Peabody (6-0-1) to keep its perfect record on the season.Masconomet 5, Lynnfield 0At Masco, a poor first half proved too difficult to overcome for Lynnfield. The Pioneers (1-5-1) made some mistakes against a good team and despite playing well in the second half, they were never able to get on track.Saugus 2, Amesbury 2At Amesbury on Monday, the Sachems let a 1-0 halftime lead slip away and needed a second-half goal from Andre Ipojuca to tie the score. Scoring for Saugus (1-5-2) in the first half was Brian Revis.Danvers 2, Beverly 1At Danvers, the Falcons (5-1-3) trailed 1-0 at the break, but came out flying in the second half.
