LYNN – A Brockton man is out on $1,000 cash bail after he allegedly was drunk and tried to force his way into a family’s West Neptune Street home early Sunday morning.”(The alleged victim) realized this was not someone who was welcome in her home and she attempted to close the door on the suspect as the two began to struggle, pushing the door back and forth,” Lynn Police Officer Richard Connick wrote in a report. “(The alleged victim) began screaming for help as she was being battered with the door.”Amaury Severino, 24, of 36 Waverly St., Brockton, was arrested and charged with nighttime felony breaking and entering of a building; assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a door; and possession of Class A drugs; at 5 a.m. Sunday.Severino was arraigned on the charge Monday in Lynn District Court, according to court documents. The alleged victims – two parents and two adult children – reported being awaken at approximately 3:45 a.m. Sunday by noises at their West Neptune Street home’s front door and window. The mother told police she went downstairs and the suspect tried to force his way inside, according to the report. The alleged victim screamed for help, and her son came to the rescue, kicking the suspect down the home’s front steps, according to police.Police reported they observed a man – later identified as Severino – leaving the home as officers responded to the call. The son positively identified the suspect, telling officers “it is impossible it is not him,” according to police.Police said Severino insisted he was going to visit friends who invited him over, but “listed several names, none of which were of anyone who lived at that address.”Police described Severino as “very lethargic” and said he “repeated himself over and over again” in the report. But police reported Severino denied drinking or using drugs that evening.Police reported finding a twist of suspected heroin, however, in Severino’s shoe.Judge James LaMothe ordered Severino held on $1,000 cash bail and to stay away from the address where the alleged incident occurred, according to court documents.Severino is scheduled to return to court Nov. 4.The victim declined to speak on the record about the event, citing the ongoing court case.
