SWAMPSCOTT – Swampscott?s Special Town Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 19, but there isn?t much planned for the warrant yet.Administrative Assistant Maureen Shultz reported at Tuesday?s Finance Committee meeting that the selectmen would be opening the warrant this week and voting on a date to close it as well.Committee member Linso Vanderburg said there would be a placeholder in the warrant for the $1.45 million proposed turf field, provided if the key $400,000 Parkland Acquisitions and Renovations for Communities grant is awarded to the town.Vanderburg said the town should hear within the next two weeks if it received the grant, and then Town Meeting members must decide to accept the grant before Dec. 31.Vanderburg said he doubts Swampscott will be awarded the grant anyway. “We don?t really fit the category this is meant to help,” he said. “We don?t have the minorities.”If Swampscott does not receive the grant, the turf field vote will be “indefinitely postponed,” said Vanderburg.
