Golf: English defeats Revere at Cedar Glen

The English golf teams notched its third win of the season against Revere 40 ?-31 ? at Cedar Glen Thursday afternoon.”This was a big win,” English coach Tara Friedman said. “Revere gave us a tough match but it was good to come out with the win in this one.”Nick Madden at No.7 recorded his first win of the season for the Bulldogs (5 ?-3 ?). Matt Sencabaugh at No.1 shot the low round the day for English (37, 5-4). The rest of the Bulldog winners were: Matt Bruneau, No.2 (6-3); Dan Rustani, No.4 (5 ?-3 ?); Chris Cole, No.5 (7-2) and Christina Lannon, No.6 (5-4). English is 3-6.Salem 37, Classical 35At Gannon, Classical (1-7) had wins from Kyle Morrill at No.3, 6 ?-2 ?. Also winning for Classical was Andre Gaudet (No.7), 6-3 to keep Classical tight with Salem.Salem (5-8) had wins from Kyle Doherty, 6-3, at No. 1; Nate Clark, 6 ?-2 ?, at four and A.J. Darmody, 6-1 at six.Lynnfield 177, Saugus 144Braeden Zanni led the way for Lynnfield with 34 points. The rest of the Pioneers top point getters were: Matt Boehner, (30 points); Mike Waisnor, (29 points); Nick Eliopoulos, (28 points); Eric Carey, (27 points) and Brandon Sullivan, (26 points). Lynnfield is now 7-3.St. John’s 230, Barnstable 244At Barnstable, the duo of freshman Chris Francoeur and sophomore Steven Dilisio (from Swampscott) both shot 36 to lead the way for the Eagles. Justin Serowik chipped in with a 39 for St. John’s. St. John’s improved its record to 10-2.Marblehead 46, Gloucester 26At Gloucester, the Magicians had five winners on the day. Winners for Marblehead were: Kyle Maulden, (No. 3); Charlie Thompson, (No.4); Matt Scholnick, (No.5); Jake Hemple, (No.6) and Jake Kramer, (No.7). Marblehead is now 8-5.Beverly 41, Peabody 31At The Meadow, the Tanners (8-5-1) had wins from Matt Correale at No. 2, 7-2, and Steve Ferrante at three, 5-4. Steve Goggin halved his match at six.
