SALEM – The Essex County district attorney will seek a warrant to bring a man accused of slashing a student and shuttle bus driver at Salem State University back to Massachusetts to face charges. But the man remains in custody in New York state.A spokesman for Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said Thursday that Timothy Wells, 25, has waived rendition. This means Wells has refused to allow Massachusetts law enforcement officials to go to New York – where Wells is currently being held in a Columbia County facility – to get him.The office will seek a Governor’s Warrant which will supersede the existing warrant, to bring Wells back to Salem.Wells is on voluntary leave of absence from the university, where he is a student. He faces two counts of attempted murder stemming from the knife attack on the morning of Sept. 25 that left the victims with superficial injuries. The driver was taken to a hospital while the woman was treated at the scene.
