Nahant expecting answers regarding causeway completion

NAHANT – After a conference call about the status of the Nahant Causeway, Town Administrator Andrew Bisignani said he is expecting to have a clearer idea of when construction will be resumed by next week. Bisignani said he spoke Friday with Rep. Steve Walsh, Sen. Thomas McGee, Department of Conservation and Recreation Commissioner Jack Murray, and DCR legal staff.?I feel the resolution is at hand,” said Bisignani. He said he felt “very comfortable” in the progress of DCR and the movement of the bonding company dealing with bankrupt contractor Pihl Inc., which walked off the job last month with 90 percent of it finished.Bisignani said Murray stressed that DCR needs time to work out the details with the legislation to get another contractor on the job.?It?s common sense to understand that town officials are not happy with what happened, but I?m pleased with progress we?re making under the circumstances,” said Bisignani.
