LYNN – A city woman is out on $5,000 bail but cannot see her infant after police said the woman went missing after leaving the baby with her father, a registered Level 3 sex offender subsequently found drunk and pushing the naked baby in a stroller down Union Street.”(The grandfather) went on to say that he had woken up this morning and discovered that his daughter was gone and that she had taken his cell phone, and he had no idea where she was at this time,” Lynn Police Officer Ralph Sirois Jr. wrote in a police report.Christina A. Leblanc, 30, of 11 Elmore St., appeared Thursday in Lynn District Court on a summons for reckless endangerment of a child.She was arraigned and a plea of not guilty was entered on her behalf.The grandfather, Gregory Leblanc, was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment of a child; an open-container violation and violation of a city knife ordinance. He was held on $1,000 cash bail at his Oct. 7 arraignment where he also pleaded not guilty.Officers responded to Union Street Oct. 5 on the report of a man who was drinking while pushing a baby stroller, according to police. Police said they found several women at a local nail salon caring for the baby while an intoxicated Gregory Leblanc sat nearby.Gregory Leblanc told officers Christina Leblanc and the child had unexpectedly arrived at his room at a boarding house the prior evening while he was asleep.Gregory Leblanc woke up the next morning and found the baby in the room but Christina Leblanc gone, according to police and Gregory Leblanc’s attorney, Sandra Delgado.Gregory Leblanc said he took the baby out – as the boarding house did not allow children – and was looking for a way to contact his daughter or the baby’s father when police arrived, according to his attorney and police.Christina Leblanc was later found hospitalized for a possible overdose, Essex Assistant District Attorney Shailagh Kennedy said at Gregory Leblanc’s arraignment.On Thursday, Kennedy requested Christina Leblanc be held on $5,000 cash bail and that she have no contact and stay away from the infant, who is now in the care of the Department of Children and Families.But defense attorney Donnalee Leonardo said there was “no reckless endangerment” on behalf of her client as Christina Leblanc left the child with everything necessary for the day.Leonardo said it was rather Gregory Leblanc who acted inappropriately. Christina Leblanc had meanwhile tested clean for drugs and was cooperating with the Department of Children and Families and the probation department, according to Leonardo.Leonardo requested Christina Leblanc be released on personal recognizance and be allowed to see her child.Judge Stacey Fortes ordered $5,000 cash bail and that Christina Leblanc stay away from the infant. Fortes noted Christina Leblanc was on probation for a drug and a prostitution charge.Christina Leblanc is scheduled to return to court Nov. 6.
