The Classical volleyball team was able to put on one of its best performance of the season against Revere, as the Rams defeated the Patriots 3-0 at Classical Friday night.”I was very impressed how well we played today as a unit,” Classical coach Frank DeLuca said. “I am very proud how everyone performed today.”Classical (7-8) was consistent from the first game all the way to the last (25-18, 25-22, 25-22). Captains Ivy Martin and Cassie D’Agostino helped set the tone for the Rams for the entirety of their match. Christine Alcalde and Sarina Soth led Classical in digs. Sabrina Uribe had solid performance defensively for English.Winthrop 3, Marblehead 1At Winthrop, the Vikings won at all three levels with the varsity taking their match 21-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-9. Middle blocker Vanessa Dale led the attack with 10 kills. Jen Adamson had five aces and eight kills; Olivia Grillo (22 assists) and libero Lexi Vaccaro (26 digs). Nina Bartlett and Dale each had three solo blocks. Winthrop is 3-14.FOOTBALLB.C High 13, St. John’s 7At B.C High, the Eagles (4-3) took a quick 7-0 lead, when quarterback Michael Geaslen capped off a 38-yard drive with a quarterback sneak into the end zone. St. John’s led 7-0 at halftime. B.C High scored on its opening drive of the second half to tie the game 7-7 and took its first lead of the game with 47 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Leading the way for St. John’s was wide receiver Logan Mahoney (3 catches, 35 yards). Geaslen had a strong game under center for the Eagles as well.In other action, Danvers defeated Salem, 26-7, to clinch the Northeastern Conference/Small crown.FIELD HOCKEYLynnfield 5, Rockport 0At Lynnfield, the Pioneers (10-4-2) took a 1-0 lead into the half. Lynnfield made adjustments in the second half and were able to find the back of the net four times. Leading the way for Lynnfield was the trio of Bailey Fanikos (3 goals, assist), Stefania DeAngelis (goal, 2 assists) and freshmen Marianne Oliveri (goal, assist). Alison Lyle had a strong game at midfield and senior co-captain Rachael Goodwin recorded 10 saves in goal for the Pioneers.
