LYNN – A judge ordered $15,000 cash bail for a city man police said fired six shots into the air on Kingsley Terrace early Friday morning.William Alvelo, 23, of 24 Cherry St. #2, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm without a firearms identification card; discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building; trespassing; possession of Class B drugs; and carrying a loaded firearm without a license, at 5:10 a.m. Friday.Alvelo was arraigned on the charges later that day in Lynn District Court where a plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf.Police responded to Kingsley Terrace at approximately 3:30 a.m. Friday on reports of a fight where a man in a white T-shirt was firing a gun into the air, according to a report by Lynn Police Officer Alvin Wolfe.Police found three men in a nearby vacant lot, two of whom allegedly ran.Police said one man, later identified as Alvelo, remained. An officer ordered Alvelo to the ground, handcuffed him and put the defendant into a cruiser for officers’ safety due to the nature of the call, according to police.Police caught up with the two other men as they tried to get into a local home, according to officers. One of the men allegedly said they were going to visit his girlfriend; but police reported neither individual could tell officers the girlfriend’s name or address.A witness positively identified Alvelo and one of the men who had fled as being involved in the alleged shooting, according to police.Officers recovered a 9-millimeter handgun jammed between a fence and a wall, and six shell casings from a 9-mm at the scene of the alleged shooting, according to police.Police also reported finding suspected drugs on the floor of the cruiser when they went to check on Alvelo.Judge Dominic Paratore ordered Alvelo held on $15,000 cash bail, according to court documents. Alvelo is scheduled to return to court Nov. 21.An attorney who represented Alvelo at the arraignment could not be reached for comment Monday evening.
