SAUGUS – The two black fiberglass calves that were reported stolen from Hilltop Steak House last weekend have been recovered, according to police.Saugus Police Assistant Chief Ronald Giorgetti said the calves, valued at $1,000 each, were retrieved Thursday and Friday afternoon. Giorgetti said they were found in Saugus, but was unable to give details of the locations because of an ongoing investigation.Giorgetti gave credit for the find to the department?s criminal investigation division, and the “cooperation and assistance of the general public.”?There was a fair amount of work recovering them,” said Giorgetti.The police department received an itemized list from restaurant managers Wednesday of everything that had been stolen since the restaurant closed Sunday after 52 years in business. The list reports 200 plates valued at $20 each, 300 menus and covers valued at $5 each, a painting of a Native American women valued at $300, and two copper pots valued at $600 each were all taken from the restaurant.Only one copper pot and the two calves have been recovered. Giorgetti said the department was still working on recovering the other items, with assistance from Saugus residents and eBay.
