Gannon defeats Beverly again in Ryder Cup tourney

Members of Gannon Golf Course in Lynn beat the members of Beverly Golf and Tennis in Beverly for the second straight year in what?s become a great golf rivalry between the two courses.In 2012, Beverly pro David Dionne proposed a two-day Ryder Cup tournament challenge to the members of Gannon, which was accepted and then won by Gannon.This year, the tournament continued with Jason Newhall as the Gannon Men?s Captain, Cathy Thibeault as the Gannon Ladies Captain, and Jim Scanlon and Ed Gugler as co-captains of the Beverly Men?s team and Debbie Mallott captain of the Beverly Ladies.Day one was played at Beverly Golf and Tennis, with a 2-person scramble on the front nine and a 2-person 4 Ball on the back. It was very closely matched with Gannon beating Beverly by 2 points, 191 to 189.Day two was played at Gannon, with an alternating shot on the front nine and individual play on the back nine. Gannon won for the second year in a row with the total score of 344 to Beverly?s 256.
