LYNN – A city man was held in lieu of $5,000 cash bail after allegedly beating a 15-year-old girl who is pregnant with the man’s child.”[The alleged victim] stated that [the defendant] has assaulted her over 19 times since she told him that she was pregnant,” Lynn Police Officer Roger Tinkham wrote in a report. “[The alleged victim] stated that during this last assault [the defendant] put his hands around her neck and choked her so hard that she has a lump in her neck.”Rodolfo V. Mora, 27, of 53 Smith St. #4, was arrested and charged with assault and battery; assault and battery on a pregnant person; and statutory rape; at 10:26 a.m. Monday.He was arraigned in Lynn District Court Monday afternoon where a plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf.The alleged victim told officers this weekend that Mora had kicked her out of the apartment they had been sharing for the past two weeks and told her he was moving to New Hampshire with another woman, according to police. The alleged victim told officers Mora had kicked and choked her during an argument a few weeks earlier, and the two would “physically fight a lot” over the six months they were dating, police said. The alleged victim told police Mora knew that she was 15 years old when the two met.Essex Assistant District Attorney Erin Bellavia said Mora had “not much of anything” on his criminal record. But Bellavia said the defendant told officers he was living in New Hampshire to stay away from the alleged victim and to be closer to work. Bellavia requested Mora be held on $5,000 cash bail, stay away from the alleged victim and her family and have no unsupervised contact with persons under 16 years old.Court-appointed defense attorney Mary Teczar said Mora denied the assault allegations and was in fact staying in New Hampshire when the alleged assault occurred.She noted Mora told police he and the alleged victim broke up because of her age. Teczar also said the alleged victim had claimed she was 18 years old when she met Mora.”Mora stated that she told him over the course of the next six months that first she was not 18, but 17, then 16, and finally that she was only 15,” police said. “Mora stated that [the alleged victim] threatens him saying that she was going to get him arrested and that if he breaks up with her that she was going to get him into trouble because of her age.”Mora allegedly admitted continuing to have sex with the alleged victim after learning she was younger than 18. He also said he would take care of the child if he was the father, according to police.Teczar requested $2,000 cash bail, and said Mora would abide by all conditions of release.Lynn District Court Judge James LaMothe ordered $5,000 cash bail and that Mora have no unsupervised contact with children, except Mora’s own child, under 16.Mora is scheduled to return to court Nov. 26.
