LYNN – A week that started out poorly for Lynn Shore Little League has ended with a championship title won the same night the Red Sox took the World Series and a donation that more than covers the losses the club suffered at the hands of vandals.”This is such a huge help,” said Kim Dorgan, treasurer of Lynn Shore Little League, showing off a $4,000 check from Turner Inc., a trucking and salvage company on the Lynnway. One week ago, vandals got inside the batting cages at Kiley Park and tore apart the nets. They also smashed bricks in the stairs leading up to the clubhouse, where they broke a window trying to get into the clubhouse.Little League President David Dorgan said Monday that the damage added up to about $1,000, which might not seem like a lot to some but for the East Boston organization, “1,000 bucks ? is a ton of money.”Harry Turner of Turner Inc. was watching the 5:30 a.m. news as he does every morning before heading to work when he heard them mention Lynn, he said.”I live in Falmouth and it’s not often you hear Lynn on the news,” he said. After hearing the Little League woes he said he knew he and his brother John would help out.”We’re a local business and we try to get involved with local organizations when we can,” he said.Dorgan said the donation would go a long way in covering the cost to repair the netting and replace lost equipment.”I just can’t thank you enough,” she said to the Turner brothers. “There has been a huge outpouring from the community but you were the first to pick up the phone and offer to help.”On top of the donation, the Little League team played in the Alice O’Neil Fall Ball tournament and brought home the championship title Wednesday.”They won 4-3 and got to go home and watch the Red Sox,” Kim Dorgan said. “It went into extra innings. It was a battle. Very exciting.”
