Football: White leads Beverly past Somerville

Isaiah White had a monster game for Beverly in a 41-8 win over Somerville Friday at Dilboy Stadium.White ran for three touchdowns and returned a kick-off for a fourth. His first was a 49-yard run, followed by 70-yard touchdown run. Steve Negron took one in from six-yards out, and then it was White again, this time from 31-yards out. White returned a kick-off 85 yards for Beverly’s fifth touchdown and Christian Miller wrapped up the scoring with a 40-yard touchdown run. Mike Madden kicked five extra points.Beverly (5-4) led 34-8 at the half. White finished with approximately 150 yards rushing.Dracut 14, Revere 0At Dracut, the Patriots had the ball inside the Dracut 10-yard line five times but came up empty handed.”We moved the ball well, but we’re not putting any points on the board,” Revere coach Lou Cicatelli said.Mike Norton and Steve Noel both had good defensive games. Revere (1-8) is home next week against Medford.St. John’s 25, Malden 12At McDonald Stadium, St. John’s Prep quarterback Mike Geaslen threw four touchdown passes with two going to Owen Rockett (3 yards and 11 yards), one to Jake Burt (15 yards) and one to Jack Lambert (6 yards). Geaslen finished 16-for-30 for 186 yards. Rockett had five catches for 64 yards and on the other side of the ball, Mike Fawenhimi had two interceptions and Brandon Kahari, one. The Eagles 5-4) led 19-6 at the half.Winthrop 29, Weston 26At Miller Field, the Vikings (4-5) led 16-0 at the half on two touchdown runs by Reese Turansky, one for 15 yards and the other for eight. Weston scored on a 65-yard run on the first play of the second half, but Winthrop’s Jordan Corbett-Frank kept the Vikings going with a 12-yard touchdown run and another for two yards. Corbett-Frank finished with about 165 yards rushing.Weston attempted two onside kicks. One was successful, the final one wasn’t, enabling Winthrop to hang on for the win. The Vikings are at Amesbury Friday.Andover 35, Peabody 14At Peabody, the Tanners (3-6) got off to a strong start, taking the opening drive 90 yards in a little under nine minutes, Ryan Collins ran it in from nine-yards out and Pat Tuohy kicked the extra point for a 7-0 Peabody lead.Andover came right back with a 55-yard touchdown run on the first play of the ensuing drive.”It was disappointing after a long drive and a nice touchdown to give up a touchdown in one play,” Peabody coach Mark Bettencourt said.Andover ran an onside kick, recovered the ball and scored again for a quick 14-7 lead. The visitors scored two more touchdowns before the half to go up 28-7. Peabody got one back when Mike Raymond found Andrew McLaughlin for a 35-yard touchdown pass, but the Tanners had dug too deep a hole by that point.Collins and Doug Santos ran the ball well for the Tanners while Cody Wlasuk, Cam Cordero (interception) and sophomore Nick Zezze played well on defense.Peabody is home Friday against Lawrence.In other action, Swampscott defeated Ipswich, 42-13; Boston Latin defeated Salem, 21-7, and Danvers defeated Wilmington, 32-7.
