NAHANT – Almost two months after contractor Pihl, Inc. walked off the causeway, Town Administrator Andy Bisignani said work was resumed Tuesday by new contractor Beacon Construction.By Thursday, workers had the parking lot cleaned up, were finishing the asphalt and resurfacing work, and were working on curbing.?They?ve been going strong,” said Bisignani. He added that the progress is “on schedule.”According to the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), the project will be completed by May 2014.Bisignani passed on a work schedule released by the DCR detailing the next three weeks of the project?s plan, from Nov. 13 until Nov. 29. According to the schedule, the focus this week has been on the Lynn “approach/departure” to the causeway, with next week?s focus on the Nahant side. Nov. 25 through Nov. 29 will be spent on the reservation part of the project.With construction underway, a single lane will be closed on both the Lynn and Nahant approaches to the causeway to help construction on the project, according to the DCR. The maintenance yard parking lot, located on the Lynn side of the causeway, will also be closed to parking between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday until Nov. 27.
