The Lynnfield football team pulled out one out of the fire, defeating Watertown 21-20 Friday at Victory Field in Watertown. The Pioneers (9-1) found themselves down 14-0 late in the first half, but they got one back before the half and then scored again and got the two-point conversion to take a 15-14 lead. Watertown scored again, but Lynnfield stopped the Red Raiders going for two. That left the door open for Matt Kramich to work some magic and he did, returning a kick-off approximately 90 yards for a touchdown and a 21-20 Lynnfield lead that held up the final final five minutes. Lynnfield’s first two touchdowns came via John Nee, who scored both on runs of about 30 yards.St. John’s 41, Methuen 21At Methuen, Jack Lambert scored three touchdowns for the Eagles on runs of one, 39 and six yards. Amesbury went up 7-6 in the second quarter, but Winthrop came right back. Corbett-Frank capped an 81-yard drive with a 26-yard touchdown run (Jake Chuidina rush) giving the Vikings a 14-6 lead.Amesbury battled back to tie the game at 14, but the Vikings got that one back when quarterback Dylan Driscoll found Corbett-Frank with a 5-yard touchdown pass, capping a 60-yard drive (Chuidina kicked the extra point). The touchdown came with two seconds left in the first half.Winthrop iced the win in the third quarter when Driscoll (80-yards passing, 1 rushing touchdown, 1 passing) ran one in from eight yards out and Chuidina kicked the extra point. In other local football action, Dracut defeated Salem, 34-27, at Bertram Field and Masconomet defeated Gloucester, 20-14, at Masco.
