PEABODY – Bishop Fenwick running back Rufus Rushins is a go for Friday night’s Division 5 football state semifinal game against Abington, coach Dave Woods said Thursday.Rushins, from Lynn, dislocated his elbow in the first of three playoff games the 10-0 Crusaders played this month – a victory over St. Mary’s.”He’ll be available,” Woods said, “but he’ll be used in a limited role.”Fenwick’s principal tailback, Rushins had already run for more than 1,000 yards in seven games for the Crusaders. He also ran for 1,000-plus as a sophomore in 2012 as well.Fenwick won the Catholic Central League/Large title this past fall, rolling through the league somewhat easily, led by Rushins, quarterback Nick Bona and all-purpose back Charlie Maistrellis. While Rushins was sidelined, Fenwick also employed the services of Rob Carillo and did not miss a beat. The Crusaders are the only team from the immediate Lynn area to survive the three-week playoff process and make the state semifinal game. Marblehead made it to the Division 3 Northeast final, but fell to Tewksbury.
