LYNN – A city man was held on a total of $2,000 cash bail after police say the man was selling items stolen from homes in four local communities.Rashid Sparks, 21, of 3 Light St. #25, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property +$250, three counts; and larceny over $250 by false pretense, three counts; in two cases in Lynn District Court. He was arraigned on the charges Nov. 12.Police believe Sparks and a second suspect, tentatively identified as a 15-year-old juvenile from Lynn, are responsible for several house burglaries in October in Lynn, Swampscott, Saugus, Malden and Melrose, according to an email from Swampscott Police Sgt. Tim Cassidy. Police also believe a third individual is involved in the alleged incidents but has not been identified, Cassidy said.Cassidy said it is believed the men would act as newspaper boys as a way to get into houses and, if residents didn’t open the door, the men would break into the home.Lynn Police arrested Sparks on a warrant when they saw him driving, according to Lynn Police Officer Gary Hagerty. Police have recovered several pieces of stolen jewelry that Sparks had allegedly pawned and are still processing other items recovered from Sparks, according to court documents. Police also remain on the lookout for a gold Infinity Q5 SUV believed to have been used in several incidents, according to Cassidy.Judge Ellen Flatley ordered $1,000 cash bail for each of the cases at Sparks’ arraignment. Sparks is scheduled to return to court Dec. 13, according to court documents. He remained held in Middleton as of Thursday, according to Cassidy.
