DANVERS – Hospice of the North Shore & Greater Boston, the state’s largest hospice provider which this month marked 35 years in business, is changing its name on Jan. 1, 2014 to CareDimensions. The name change has been in the works for a year as the nonprofit found its current name did a poor job of conveying all of its services.Diane Stringer, president of Hospice of the North Shore & Greater Boston, Said, “Hospice is certainly at the core of what we do, but we do more. We provide grief support services, and about half of those who use these services did not have a hospice experience with a loved one.”The group also educates health care providers about advanced care planning and support for caregivers.”For the last 10 years we have offered palliative care consultation services that serves 200 patients a day,” said Stinger, who has been with the organization for 25 years. “Plus our service area goes well beyond the North Shore and Greater Boston, encompassing more than 90 communities in eastern Massachusetts.”CareDimensions further communicates the many dimensions of our care providers and staff including physicians, nurses, counselors, social workers, aides and other clinicians trained in advanced illness, palliative and hospice care, bereavement and healing,” said Stringer. “We really wanted to capture the breadth and the depth of what we offer with our new name.”Peter Sherwood, chairman of the board of directors for Hospice of the North Shore and Greater Boston, said, “We will continue to enrich the quality of life of those affected by life-limiting illness, death and loss by providing exceptional care, support, education and consultation.”
