LYNN – Police reported arresting four in a raid of an illegal gambling business in the basement of a Union Street business Sunday.Hector Pena, 35, of 47 Estes St. #1, Ramon Pena, 30, of 135 Chestnut St. 1L, Jose Paulino, 34, of 223 Chestnut St. #2, and Keyla Pimental, 19, of 48 Rogers Ave. #2, were arrested and each charged with participating in/allowing illegal gambling.The defendants were arraigned in Lynn District Court Tuesday morning where a plea of not guilty was entered on each defendant’s behalf, according to court documents.Police obtained a search warrant for Botanica Santa Ana at 199 Union St. and executed the warrant Sunday at 1 p.m.Officers searching the basement of the store found a laptop displaying a website to register illegal bets on sports, according to a report by Lynn Police Officer Ross Panacopoulos. Police also reported finding a receipt printer, betting sheets, betting slips and envelopes containing cash and betting slips.Police said Pimental was found to be registering the bets. Paulino and Ramon Pena had betting slips and cash, and Hector Pena had $589 in suspected gambling proceeds at the time of the raid, police reported.The store owner allegedly told police she was unaware of the gambling. The owner and two other people present at the business at the time of the raid were summonsed to court for illegal gaming, according to police.Judge James LaMothe ordered the defendants released on personal recognizance, according to court documents.
