December 5, 2013 by ktaylor

SAUGUS – September may appear to be a long way off – especially September 2015 – but plans for Saugus hosting the Veterans Appreciation Day are already in motion.Cemetery Commission Director Dennis Gould helped to organize the parade in Lynn that took place in the fall, and he appeared before the Board of Selectmen on Nov. 26 to request a parade permit for Sept. 13, 2015, with the intent to “piggyback” on Founder?s Day the day before. The tentative parade route is starting at Saugus High School and will start down Main Street at 1 p.m. marching toward Saugus Center, then a right onto Central Street, a right onto Denver Street, proceeding up Talbot Street and returning to the high school. In a letter to the board, Gould proposed that the review stand would be placed near the Veterans Memorial in Saugus Center. Gould requested that the town allow for the use of the high school?s cafeteria for parade participants as a changing area and for refreshments after the parade. The board approved the parade permit request unanimously.
