SALEM – For the eighth consecutive year, Salem State University hosted the Northeastern Conference Hockey Jamboree at Rockett Arena. The Patriots answered 2:40 later as Rich Polignone banged home a rebound created by Matos.The early game saw Winthrop score three goals in both periods on the way to a 6-1 win over Swampscott.Chris Page scored four times for the Vikings, the first coming eight minutes into the action, on a shot to the short side from the bottom of the left circle. Pat Todisco, who forced a turnover in the slot, picked up a helper, along with John Orlando.Page?s second tally at the 18:45 mark came after his shot from the slot deflected off a Big Blue defenseman and in. Mark Ferullo upped the lead to three a minute and a half later on a terrific individual effort.Just like in the opening period, Page started the scoring in the second after breaking in alone and firing his shot low, stick-side, just 20 seconds after the opening faceoff.Swampscott got on the board 5:10 later when Ryan Donnelly finished off Noah Maercklein?s perfect pass from behind the net. Ryan Cresta was credited with a secondary assist.Todisco added a short-handed tally with 12 minutes to play before Page picked up his fourth goal of the game in garbage time on a jam shot from in close.
