SAUGUS – Paul Penachio may be wearing two different hats, but at least they are both under the same roof. The town?s emergency management agency director will be moving with his operation to the Saugus Public Safety Building on Hamilton Street, where Penachio is also a firefighter.Town Manager Scott Crabtree officially announced the move Monday after weeks of hinting that the move was an option since the agency vacated its previous headquarters at the old Hamilton Street fire station for American Ambulance, who moved in Dec. 1.?This location will professionalize and centralize the agency by facilitating better communication, coordination and collaboration with our emergency department heads, the police chief, fire chief and director of emergency management during times of planning, preparation and community public safety needs,” wrote Crabtree.Penachio will move to the building, and his volunteers will have access to the training rooms for meetings; the rooms are open at all hours. Fire Chief Donald McQuaid said Monday the agency?s vehicles and equipment have not been housed at the building.McQuaid added that not much will change in terms of operation of the agency and its interaction with the fire and police departments.
