LYNN – A judge ordered a homeless woman held until trial after the woman allegedly slashed a pregnant woman in the face during a fight on Union Street early Monday morning.”She is a dangerous person,” Essex Assistant District Attorney Mark Byron said in Lynn District Court Thursday. “She should not be on the streets and on this night could simply not get enough ? she went back and back for more.”Kristin Fulcher, homeless, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; at 12:47 a.m. Monday. She was arraigned on the charge later that morning in Lynn District Court, where a plea of not guilty was entered on her behalf, according to court documents.Police responded to the corner of Smith and Union streets early Monday morning where a woman told officers her sister was cut in the face, according to a report by Lynn Police Officer Paul Wonoski. Police then met the alleged victim, who had a 4-to-5-inch cut from the nose to her chin, according to police. The alleged victim told police she was at China Bowl Restaurant when she saw her sister arguing with Fulcher outside. The alleged victim said she went out and tried to push her sister back inside the restaurant. But Fulcher kept trying to attack the sister, slashing the alleged victim in the face with a box cutter, the alleged victim told police. The alleged victim and Fulcher fell to the ground fighting, and the alleged victim was slashed again but uninjured, according to police.Fulcher then allegedly fled into a club, where police found her covered in blood. Police also recovered a broken and bloody razor blade in a sewer grate.Fulcher was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing when she was arraigned on the charge Monday.Byron argued at that hearing Thursday there were no conditions to ensure the safety of the community and alleged victim should Fulcher be released. He said Fulcher had a record of violence, had three open cases in the court and previously defaulted on court appearances. Moreover, Fulcher began fighting the alleged victim’s sister and, despite bystanders’ efforts, began fighting the alleged victim, Byron said.Defense attorney George Abi-Esber said Fulcher was not a danger to the alleged victim or the alleged victim’s husband, both of whom testified Thursday. Abi-Esber said Fulcher slashed the alleged victim unintentionally while trying to protect herself from the “initial aggressor,” the alleged victim’s sister.”She has nothing to do with this couple, she doesn’t know them and is not a danger to them,” Abi-Esber said, adding, “(The sister) did not show up to say she was a danger.”Abi-Esber also seemed skeptical of the sister’s reliability. Police noted the woman left the scene before her identity could be confirmed and they found “no information” on the name she gave.(The alleged victim testified Thursday the confrontation between her sister and Fulcher began when Fulcher made derogatory comments accusing the woman of being an illegal immigrant.)Esber requested Fulcher have a closely supervised probation and stay away from the alleged victim, and stay drug and alcohol free.Judge James LaMothe ruled the defendant to be dangerous and ordered her held for up to 90 days. Fulcher is scheduled to return to court Jan. 8.
