Lynn man accused of attacking rival with bat

LYNN – A judge ordered $1,500 cash bail for a city man who allegedly whacked a romantic rival with a baseball bat then stole his car in October.”When he met up with (the defendant) (the defendant) struck him with a baseball bat to the back of the head and then struck him a second time on the forehead,” Lynn Police Officer Greg Brotherton wrote in a report.Jordan Williams, 19, of 41 High Rock St. #3, was arrested on a warrant for armed robbery; and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.Police responded to Broad Street on the report of a carjacking at 12:09 a.m. Oct. 22. The alleged victim told officers he and Williams had an “ongoing feud” over a girl and agreed to meet on Newhall Street that evening, according to the report. Williams allegedly brought a bat and allegedly hit the alleged victim twice before the alleged victim could escape and call police. The alleged victim told police he then saw his car driving past on Newhall Street, according to police.Police reported a 1-inch cut on the back of the alleged victim’s head and swelling on the alleged victim’s forehead. The car was later found in a Sachem Street parking lot.Police issued a warrant for Williams, on which he was arrested Dec. 10, according to court documents. Williams was arraigned on the charges in Lynn District Court later that day, where a plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf. Judge Albert Conlon ordered Williams held pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Tuesday. But the request was withdrawn on that date and attorneys argued bail, according to court documents.Conlon ordered $1,500 cash bail for Williams and scheduled him to return to court Jan. 23, according to court documents.
