Roundup: Classical swimmers dominate Revere

The Classical swim team swam at home against Revere Tuesday and dominated the meet against the Patriots, winning, 93-68.First place finishers for the Rams were: 200 medley relay (Kevin Chasse, Cameron Marcinko, Brian Nelson and Joshua Page, 2:12.12); 200 free relay (Luigi Genau, Nelson, Craig Mordaunt, Anthony Ong, 1:53.12) and 400 free relay (Erinn Daly, Dhimo Bitri, Ong and Chasse, 4:16.66.Individually, double winners Nelson (200 IM in 2:28.50; and 100 breaststroke, 1:11.31) and Allysha Dunnigan (100 fly, 1:15.91 and 100 back, 1:15.16).Also: Daly, 200 free, 2:08.10 and Bobby Choquette, diving, 148.20 were winners.Arl. Cath. 86, Fenwick, 84At Fenwick, the Crusaders took the early lead winning the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:55.82 (Capt. Bridgette Townsend, Pablo Jimenez, Carson Christuk, Connor Christuk). AC took the 200 free, but Fenwick’s Carson Christuk won the 200 IM (with a state qualifying time) 2:03.41. to tie the meet at 23 points. Carson’s brother, freshman Connor Christuk won the 50 Freestlye with a :25.25 to give the crusaders a 2-point lead.ACtook the next two events, 100 butterfly and 100 fresstyle, but freshman Connor Christuk won again, in the 500 freestyle with a state qualifying time 5:15.97. Fenwick took the next event, the 200 Freestyle Relay 1:56.57, (Capt Linsey Andrews, Pablo Jimenez, Nicole DiMegilo and Carson Christuk), tying the meet once again at 62 points.AC took the 100 backstroke, but Fenwick’s Carson Christuk took the 100 breast with a state qualifying time of 1:01.66. Again typing the meet at 78.It all came down to the final relay. AC placed first, with Fenwick taking second and third.Brothers Carson and Connor Christuk were both double winners in today meet.WRESTLINGSt. John’s 74, Duxbury 0St. John’s 67, Marshfield 6St. John’s 76, Southeastern 6St. John’s 72, Pembroke 9At Marshfield, St. John’s (10-1) got quad meet sweeps from Malcolm Mitchell (106), Michael Dik (120), Hunter Costa (126), Jack Anderson (138), Jared Costa (145), Fred Colberg (152), Beri DiNatale (160), Solomon White (170), Ian Butterbordt (220) and Jay Carnivale (285).Those with three wins were Elias Connor (113), John Grady (132), Spencer Jenkins (182) and Jim Messeder (195).Lynnfield 60, Marblehead 6Lynnfield 48, Malden Cath. 24At Lynnfield, double winners were Joe Morse (106), Eric Kerr (126), Max Whyman (132), Lucas Pascucci (138), Dominic Monzione (145), Joe Wise (160), Brandon Troisi (195) and Tom Arsenault (220).     Steve Krause is the Item’s writer-at-large. He joined paper in 1979 as a copy editor and later created a music column, called Midnight Ramblings, which ran through 1985. After leaving the paper for a year, he returned in 1988 as a reporter and editor in sports. He became sports editor in 1998; and was named writer-at-large in 2018. Krause won awards for writing in 1985 from United Press International; in 2001 from the Associated Press; and again in 2020 from the New England Newspaper & Press Association. He is a member of the Harry Agganis Foundation Hall of Fame, a past winner of the Moynihan Lumber Scholar-Athlete Community Service Award, and was the 2012 recipient of the Jack Grinold Media Award for MasterSports, an organization that conducts high school and college coaches’ clinics.
