REVERE — State Rep. Kathi-Anne Reinstein dropped a New Year’s political surprise Thursday morning by announcing in a letter she is resigning from the Massachusetts House of Representatives to “become the Government Affairs manager for the Boston Beer Company.”
Reinstein’s legislative aide Daniel Fielding confirmed the letter in a telephone call Thursday and said Reinstein is limiting comments on her departure — for now — to the letter’s contents. In the one-page letter, Reinstein states she will resign on Jan. 17.
“This is an incredible opportunity for my family and me, but a very difficult decision to make,” the letter stated.
Reinstein represents Revere in the Legislature with House Speaker Robert DeLeo. She holds the title of second assistant majority leader and also represents parts of Chelsea and Saugus.
