The Classical girls basketball team found itself trailing from the opening tip to the final few seconds of regulation, but the Rams rallied down the stretch to pull out a 66-62 win in double overtime Monday at Classical.This one took the fans on both sides for a ride with Salem leading by as many as 12 points at one time. The Witches led by 10 heading into the fourth quarter, but the Rams fought back and with 12 seconds remaining, guard Chenysse Hill forced a turnover. The Rams (2-3) brought the ball back down the court, got off a shot, but missed. Franki Galeazzi was in the right spot, put it back up and tied the game with five seconds left in regulation to send it into overtime. The score was still tied after the first overtime, but the Rams put it away in the second overtime with Heidi Milhem, who led all scorers with 22 points, accounting for the final bucket.?Heidi played a great game tonight,” Classical coach Tom Sawyer said. “She benefited having Kristin Lauria back. She makes everyone better. Having Kristin and Heidi on the floor at the same time makes a big difference.”Lauria missed the first five games of the season. Marblehead led 16-6 at one point, but the game was tied at 24 after three quarters.Ashley Arnoldy had 10 points for the Falcons and Mia Bongiorno, 11 points for Marblehead. Emily Freedland had eight for the Magicians, who are now 4-1. Danvers was coming off a 33-26 win over Gloucester on Saturday. Tina Gigli, Emily McNulty and Arnoldy each had seven points in that game.
