St. Mary’s had it all going in a 65-34 win over Bishop Fenwick Friday at Tony Conigliaro Gym.Jennie Mucciarone led the way for the Spartans (10-1, 5-0 Catholic Central League) with 21 points. Sharell Sanders was right behind her with 18 points and sophomore Kayla Carter had 13 points, 10 of them coming in the first half to get the ball rolling for St. Mary’s. She also had seven rebounds and five steals.”That was probably her best game in the two years she’s been here,” St. Mary’s coach Jeff Newhall said.Sanders not only buried Fenwick with her shooting, but she wreaked havoc defensively with eight steals. The Spartans need one more win to qualify for the state tournament.KIPP 65, CCSS 21At Lynn, Alex Huffman led KIPP with 17 points as the Panthers improved their record to 3-2 overall, 2-0 in the league. Serena High (12 points), Nayali Germosen (10 points) and Maria Kamba (8 points) all contributed offensively while Helen Maldonado and Anaidys Uribe did a nice job on the boards. KIPP led 28-6 at the half.Peabody 41, Marblehead 33At Peabody, the Tanners were in control of this one all the way, although the Magicians (5-2) did manage to cut a 20-point deficit down quite a bit.”They scrapped to get back in, but we held on and got the job done,” Peabody coach Jane Heil said.Sara Hosman had 11 points for the Tanners (6-2, 4-2 Northeastern Conference); Melissa Gray, nine points, and Carolyn Scacchi, eight.Lynnfield 44, Triton 21At Triton, the beat goes on for the 8-0 Pioneers. Junior forward Emma Mancini had 19 points and 10 rebounds and Toni DeCesare was good for 10 points. Kathering Lawless, a senior forward, had eight points. Lynnfield led the entire game, only allowing Triton two points in the first half.”We played tremendous defense tonight,” coach Bob Melillo said.Medford 51, Revere 37At Revere, the story for the Patriots was one of missed shots and missed free throws. Adanna Hector and Angela Curtis each had eight points, as did Tiphani Harris. Harris also had 14 rebounds and Curtis, eight. Revere cut the lead to six in the fourth quarter, but the rally fizzled. Revere is 2-5.Beverly 38, Danvers 36At Beverly, the Falcons’ offensive struggles continued in this one. Delaney Zecha had 10 points, Emily McNulty, nine points and Ashley Arnold, eight points. Danvers was down by 10 after the third quarter, but fought back to make it a close one. The Falcons are 5-3.GIRLS HOCKEYPeabody 5, Fenwick 0At McVan-O’Keefe, the Crusaders 0-4-1 had strong play in net from Meghan Woodworth. The game was scoreless after the first period and Peabody led 2-0 after the second. Fenwick coach Doug Anderson said he’s pleased with his team’s progress despite the loss.WRESTLINGLynnfield 34, Masco 33At Lynnfield, the Pioneers (14-0) came from behind to remain unbeaten in league play. Winners for Lynnfield were Joe Morse (106 pounds); Lucas Pascucci, (132); Max Whyman, (138); Joey Wise, (160); Brandon Troisi, (195); Vitaliy Andrusyshyn, (220) and Tom Arseneault, (285).”This was a big win for us, as this win could be the difference in winning the league title,” Lynnfield coach Craig Stone said.
