LYNN – A judge ordered a Malden woman held on prior charges of assaulting a Boston Police officer after Lynn Police said the woman repeatedly spit on and kicked officers arresting her for allegedly trashing her boyfriend’s home.”She is very embarrassed and would love to apologize to the officers involved,” defense attorney Michael Dunphy said in Lynn District Court Tuesday. He said the defendant had an alcohol problem.Brianna Doherty, 23, of 22 Clinton St. B., was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery; malicious and wanton defacement of property; assault and battery on a police officer, three counts; and resisting arrest; at 12:39 a.m. Tuesday.She was arraigned on the charges later that day in Lynn District Court where a plea of not guilty was entered on her behalf.Police responded to a Silsbee Street address early Tuesday morning on a report of a domestic incident, according to a report by Lynn Police Officer Taylor Kulakowski.Police said the boyfriend returned home from work after Doherty called him from his apartment and began “flipping out” when the boyfriend told her not to visit him at work.The boyfriend told officers his apartment was trashed and he asked Doherty to leave or he would call police.Doherty then allegedly attacked her boyfriend, scratching him in the face and shoulders.Police noted they met Doherty as they arrived at the address.”I then asked Doherty what was going on and she stated, ?get out of my way, I am leaving,'” Kulakowski reported. “…she tried to push by me. I then grabbed Doherty by the shoulder pulling her back and as I did so she spit at me, missing, hitting the stairs.”Police reported Doherty continued to spit and kick at officers as they arrested her and took her to the station.Essex Assistant District Attorney Erin Bellavia requested Doherty’s bail be revoked on a November 2013 Brighton District Court case where she was charged with assault and battery; and assault and battery on a police officer, two counts; according to court documents.Dunphy said his client lost control when she drank, and requested she be released to treatment.Judge James Wexler noted in court documents that Lynn Police made no mention of alcohol in their police report. He ordered Doherty’s bail revoked on the previous case, sending her to Framingham for up to 60 days.(Doherty had been released on personal recognizance in Brighton, but on the condition that she stay away from any establishment that serves liquor after 6 p.m., according to the docket.)She is scheduled to return to Brighton court on Jan. 29, according to court documents.
