LYNN – Rain turned to snow on Saturday, but luckily the volunteers working at the Habitat for Humanity North Shore build on Grover Street in Lynn were indoors. And that wasn’t their only blessing. The project got a big boost with the help of former Lynn teacher Stephanie Vanderbilt, who now co-owns Coastal Windows and Exteriors, a home improvement company out of Beverly. Vanderbilt helped organize and raise $54,678.77, which she presented to Habitat North Shore’s president, Don Preston.Vanderbilt has been working with Preston and Habitat to rehab the Grover Street home for months and is excited to continue the partnership. She’s organizing more groups of volunteers, especially women, to come work on the home in the next few months.According to Preston, work was proceeding on the house with an expected finish date sometime in June or July. On Saturday, interior framing work took place, and layers of soundproofing were being installed between each of the home’s three floors.”We’re in the process of framing, and prepping for the plumbing, heating, electricity,” Preston said. “By the end of February, we will be working on insulation, and then finishing the exterior. Anyone who wants in on that adventure is free to join us.”
