LYNN – A judge ordered $10,000 cash bail for a city man charged with rape and assault after a pantless woman ran into a 7-Eleven early one weekday morning seeking help.Peter O. Molbeck, 45, of 328 Broadway #202, was arrested and charged with rape; witness intimidation; and assault and battery; at 8:27 a.m. Jan. 9. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The alleged victim told police she and Molbeck had returned to his office after a party when Molbeck confessed he loved her, held her down while he kissed and groped her, and then raped her. The alleged victim said she escaped when Molbeck got up to turn off the lights.Public defender Alice Jayne said at Molbeck’s arraignment that the defendant denied the charges and any sexual contact was consensual. Jayne suggested the alleged victim had regrets of any sexual contact because she and Molbeck both worked for her boyfriend.Molbeck was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for last Thursday. The Commonwealth dropped the request for the hearing that day, and Judge James LaMothe ordered $10,000 cash bail in the case, according to court documents.
