REVERE – Police arrested a Revere man for assault to murder after officers said the man returned to the home of a woman he had strangled and sent to the hospital earlier in the weekend.”(The alleged victim) did lose consciousness at one point during the assault and was transported to Whidden (hospital),” Revere Police Lt. Amy O’Hara wrote in a text message Monday evening.Anthony E. Spinney, 27, of 57 Oak Island St. #3, Revere, was arrested and charged with assault to murder; and assault and battery; at 7:26 a.m. Monday.O’Hara said the alleged incident occurred Saturday, when an argument between Spinney and his girlfriend turned physical. Spinney allegedly fled the scene when police arrived and officers were applying for a warrant for the charges.But Spinney returned to the girlfriend’s home early Monday morning, prompting police to arrive at the house and apprehend Spinney. He is expected to be arraigned today in Chelsea District Court.
