MARBLEHEAD – If the winter blues are getting the best of you, you will want to set a reminder so that you can attend this weekend’s “Winter Warmer A Cappella Concert,” on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 28 Mugford St., to benefit Girls Inc. of Lynn. The talented octet known as None of the Above (NOTA) is a Boston-area a cappella group that is celebrating 10 years of singing together. The program will include a variety of pieces ranging from pop to jazz to folk songs, and the group’s collective enthusiasm will be sure to melt away thoughts of snow, ice and cold temperatures outside.None of the Above is a group of eight gifted singers from a myriad of musical backgrounds. Add equal parts of early polyphony, cutting-edge modern harmony, familiar folk songs, uplifting spirituals, catchy pop tunes and lush jazz standards, and the result is an eclectic, entertaining and thought-provoking show.None of the Above is welcoming a special guest septet, Vocal Solution, from the Oxford Hills area of Maine. The concert is the brainchild of soprano Alisa Manning, a resident of Marblehead who recently connected with Girls Inc. of Lynn and wanted to put together a special performance to benefit the organization.”Our group strongly believes in giving the gift of music through performance; if and when possible, we also like to offer intentional performances that might impact the community in very positive ways,” Manning says.
