LYNN – A judge ordered $110,000 cash bail for a man sought in connection with an alleged shooting in Maine, and $5,000 cash bail for each of two individuals arrested with the alleged fugitive and charged with drug and gun offenses.Paul Coyne, 30, homeless, was arrested and charged as a fugitive from justice on a Maine warrant; at 1:03 a.m. Jan. 24. He was charged in a separate case with witness intimidation to impede an investigation; and possession of Class A drugs.Michael Coyne, 32, homeless, of Lynn, was arrested and charged with being present where heroin is knowingly kept; and conspiracy to violate drug laws; on Jan. 24.Martha Brown, 21, homeless, of Lynn, was arrested and charged with carrying a firearm without a license; carrying a loaded firearm without a license; being present where heroin is knowingly kept; conspiracy to violate drug laws; and violation of a city knife ordinance; on Jan. 24.All were arraigned Friday afternoon in Lynn District Court where pleas of not guilty were entered on each defendant’s behalf, according to court documents.Lynn Police learned early Friday morning that Maine police sought a 2001 Chevy Impala in which Paul Coyne – the suspect in a Thursday morning shooting in Gardiner, Maine – was believed to be traveling along with his girlfriend, according to police reports. Paul Coyne had allegedly tried to shoot a 26-year-old male in the head but hit him in the leg. Police said both Paul Coyne and his brother Michael Coyne had ties to Lynn.Police found the three defendants in a car parked outside 20 Park St. and recovered suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle’s glove box, according to court documents. The three were each arrested, and a subsequent vehicle search recovered ammunition and a loaded 9mm Hi-Point Luger handgun.Prosecutors argued Friday in Lynn District Court that Brown owned the gun, and it was involved in the alleged shooting, according to court documents. Brown admitted it was her gun, however, she said the statement was made under duress, according to the bail sheet.Judge James Wexler ordered Brown held on $5,000 cash bail.Wexler cited a probation violation and the drug charges in ordering $5,000 cash bail for Michael Coyne, according to court documents.Wexler noted in court documents that Paul Coyne lied about his identity to police – a report by Lynn Police Lt. Thomas Reddy states Paul Coyne first identified himself as his father when confronted by police – and was wanted on an attempted murder charge in Maine. Wexler ordered $10,000 cash bail for the alleged offenses at the arrest in Lynn and set $100,000 cash bail on the fugitive from justice charge.All are scheduled to return to Lynn District Court Feb. 21.
