Girls Hoop: Scacchi leads Tanners past Witches

The Peabody girls basketball team celebrated Senior Night with a comfortable 75-48 win over Salem at Peabody.The Tanners came out firing and by the half, had a 41-19 lead. Carolyn Scacchi had a big night, scoring 22 points (7 rebounds, 3 blocks, 7 assists, 2 steals) while Olivia Summit was right behind her with 16 points. Sarah Hosman had nine points and Courtney Bua, eight.Arlington Catholic 62, Bishop Fenwick 39At Arlington, the Crusaders (9-8) had a rough outing. Colleen Corcoran had 15 points and Kate Lipka, nine, in the loss.Winthrop 53, Marblehead 34At Winthrop, the Vikings (6-2, 12-1) continue to set a torrid pace in the Northeastern Conference Small. Three players hit double figures for Winthrop — Ashelyne Babb (13 points); Nina Bartlette (13 points) and Kristen Siscamanis (10 points).Mia Bongiorno had 11 points for Marblehead.Danvers 44, Gloucester 41At Danvers, the Falcons (10-9, 7-6 Northeastern Conference) qualified for the state tournament. This one wasn?t easy. Gloucester led by two at the half and the game was tied at 35 after three. With just over a minute to go, Delaney Zecha stole the ball for Danvers and fed it to Hannah Llewellyn, who laid it in for a two-point lead. Gloucester couldn?t score on its next possession and Emily McNulty hit a free throw for Danvers for the three-point spread. McNulty had 15 points and Llewellyn and Ashley Arnoldy, eight points. Zecha set a school record for steals in a game with 10.Beverly 35, Revere 32At Revere, the Patriots trailed by three with under a minute remaining. The Patriots had a couple of opportunities to score, but came up short and then missed a free throw. Revere was 5-for-15 from the line, which proved costly. Tiphani Harris had 10 points and 15 rebounds for the 7-10 Patriots.
