Trailing by two after two periods on Senior Night, Peabody/Lynnfield regrouped and forged a 2-2 tie with Brookline/Newton South Saturday afternoon at McVann-O?Keefe Rink.?I have to say the first two periods were not our best by far. We were very sluggish, out of position, non-aggressive. I didn?t go into the locker room between the second and third and let the girls talk it over among themselves,” said coach Larry Minehan. With Courtney Smith and Carolyn Buckley hampered by injuries, and Elise Murphy unavailable, the Tanners turned to other sources of offense. Freshman defenseman Hannie Aylward scored with 7:50 remaining in the game to make it 2-1 and eighth-grade forward Jonalyn Carpenter tied it with 2:02 left to play.Meanwhile, freshman goalie Lauren Hennessey continued her stellar play since returning from a knee injury with 28 saves.?Lauren was Lauren — I have no idea how she stopped some of them,” said Minehan. The honored seniors were Krysten Hennessey, Ciara DiSalvo, Courtney Cavanaugh and Courtney Smith. Joining the players on the ice during pre-game warm-ups were members of the Peabody Girls Youth Hockey program.Saturday?s tie followed a 3-3 deadlock with Shawsheen on Friday night.
