SAUGUS – Senior Class President Jonathan McTague reported that Saugus High School has raised about $4,500 in the first two weeks of its campaign to sponsor a child through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.McTague first presented his idea to the School Committee in January. He said it would take $7,500 to make a wish come true for a child with a life-threatening medical condition residing in Massachusetts.?I know the high school can accomplish it,” said McTague. “With the dedication that the teachers and students have, I know it will be a goal we can reach.”The $4,500 has been sourced from only students and faculty after the school-wide launch in the first week of February. But McTague said he and other organizers are starting to reach out to businesses. He said there will soon be a “community launch” date for the town to join in on the cause.McTague said in January that he wanted the high school to sponsor a child through Make-A-Wish because he liked the idea of “kids helping kids.”
