A contingent of eight Peabody weight throwers competed at the fourth annual USA Track and Field Scholastic Invitational on Wednesday afternoon at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury.Leading the way for the Tanners was Marcus Vieira, who threw a top distance of 52-8 to finish second while qualifying for Nationals (held March 15-16 in New York City).Peabody?s Ariel Ayala also had a noteworthy day, placing fifth with a best throw of 43-6 3/4 to qualify for the New England Open Championships on Sunday at Harvard University.Along with Vieira and Ayala, the Tanners will send John Spinale, Anthony Christo and Victor Teixeira to Boston in the hopes of further qualifications.
