Dangerousness hearing for Lynn assault suspect dropped

LYNN – A city man was held in lieu of $2,500 cash bail after a woman, who had told police the defendant would kill her once police became involved, recanted allegations the man strangled her.Scott Larrabee, 46, of 8 Lafayette Park #9, was arrested and charged with kidnapping, witness intimidation; assault and battery; attempted murder; threat to commit a crime; and a warrant; at 10:35 p.m. Feb. 10.He was arraigned on the charges the following day where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.The alleged victim’s daughter called police after receiving several text messages from her mother suggesting Larrabee wouldn’t allow her to leave his apartment and had threatened harm. The daughter went to pick up her mother, but got no reply when she texted her mother. The daughter called police, who were about to break down the door when the mother opened the door and said Larrabee “told me if I (opened the door) he would (expletive) kill me, excuse my French.”Larrabee was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing. On Tuesday, prosecutors dropped the request for a dangerousness hearing, saying the alleged victim had recanted her story and would not testify at the hearing, according to court documents.Larrabee was ordered held on $2,500 cash bail, and was transported to Middleton House of Corrections in lieu of the bail amount.
