LYNN – A Lynn driver who crashed into a Walnut Street home Monday morning walked away from the accident along with a resident who was feet away from the room demolished in the crash.Denise Anderson said the crash?s impact into a ground-floor storage closet next to her bedroom sent belongings in her room “flying off the walls.”?I felt like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz,” Anderson said. The 57-year-old driver was taken to Union Hospital by emergency medical workers “to be checked out for precautionary reasons,” said Police Lt. Richard Donnelly. The 9:02 a.m. accident occurred as the Isuzu?s driver prepared to make a left turn onto Robinson Street and was struck from behind by a Honda Civic driven by a 19-year-old Lynn man.Donnelly said no citations were issued following the collision and said the Honda driver was not injured. He declined to identify the drivers.Anderson said she was using her computer in her bedroom when the Isuzu crashed into 122 Walnut St. The crash demolished part of the building?s exterior wall facing Walnut street and turned drywall board and framing wood into tinder.?If I had moved, I would have got it,” she said.Contractor Steven Likousas said he heard the crash as he worked in 122 Walnut.?I ran downstairs to make sure Denise was OK,” he said.Donnelly said police officers responding to the accident scene found the Isuzu?s driver outside the vehicle, but Likousas said two men came to the driver?s aid.?They opened the (Isuzu?s) back door and helped the gentleman out. They were the true heroes,” he said.
