Local bands to play Black Box Theatre Friday, March 28

LYNN – The Black Box performance space at LynnArts hasn’t hosted live bands for years, but that’s about to change next weekend.Set The Nation and Frontier Work will play The Black Box from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday, March 28 at 25 Exchange St. at Central Square in downtown Lynn.In an attempt to revitalize its use, Jake Kennedy and Chris Deluca from the band Set The Nation decided to begin producing a show that would bring back live bands to the space.They invited Lynn band Frontier Work to contribute to the show as well. Jake Kennedy says that the show is a way “so teens could look up from their iPhones and Xbox’s and do something new.”Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. To order ahead, contact Kennedy at [email protected] bands will also be playing at this year’s Hodgepodge Music Festival, hosted at the Lynn Woods Amphitheater on June 28 and 29.Currently in the process of recording a full-length album, Frontier Work is a three member band from Lynn. Prior to a name change in early 2014, they were known as The Chiefs, playing mainly alternative rock and blues rock. When the group concentrated into three players, it inspired a new concentration in sound.Members are Dean Albert on vocals, guitar and keyboard, Ellis Hobby on bass and keyboard, and Jean-Michael Fana on percussion. All three graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 2012.Set The Nation is a rock ?n’ roll band begun in November 2012 with vocalist Matthew Gorczyca, lead guitarist Christopher DeLuca and drummer John “Yianni” Skouras.The current lineup includes rhythm guitarist Geoffrey Fischer and bassist Jake Kennedy.All have different musical influences ranging from late 1980’s Rockabilly to European metal.
